WELCOME TO CODS' NEWSLETTER! CHRISTMAS EDITION 2011
VIVA MEXICO! The auditions have taken place and were well supported. There are certainly a large number of very talented people within the society, and some new blood will be treading the boards which is great news for the future of the society. Thank you to all who auditioned and well done to those who were cast as principals. A full list will be on the website shortly. Rehearsals are well underway and thanks to Rachel there should be no problem losing those extra pounds after Christmas as the routines are frant - well worth watching the show just for those!

A TIME FOR GIVING It's not just Christmas time that we think of others and the committee is asking the membership to spend a bit of time thinking about causes that we could fundraise for. This idea is only in the initial stages and is likely to be discussed at the AGM in June, but if there is a local cause / charity that you would like to see CODS support in some way in the future, the AGM may be an opportunity to raise it. CODS recently supported the Lions Community Raffle, raising funds for ourselves as well as the Lions and Alan Baker, one of our members was lucky enough to be a winner. Congratulations Alan.

YOUR COMMITTEE NEEDS YOU The society is run by a dedicated team of committee members who do a lot of work both behind the scenes and in full view, but ten people cannot do all the work themselves. One way you can get involved is working on a subcommittee. These are smaller groups set up to work on a specific project, be it the concert planning, or choosing the next play or tidying the store. If you would like to offer your help to one of these committees, please contact Hilary, our Chair, who will point you in the direction of the Sub Committee Head.
AND FINALLY...
CODS has been busy with the Christmas period, singing Carols for charity at Tesco then onto Club Crediton for an evening of community carol singing. Both events were well supported and go a long way to raising the profile of CODS. It also gave us a chance to wear our new Viva Mexico sweaters, which are a seasonal red colour. Thank you to Jo, Mike and Allan for leading the singing and for all those who came along. The committee wishes to send all members our best wishes for the festive season and look forward to your continued support in 2012, for another fun-packed and hard working year.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! |
